With an M.A. in Organizational Psychology, Char specializes in supporting organizations as they scale up by discovering A+ talent and nurturing value-driven cultures. People often tell her they appreciate her authenticity, kindness and ability to reframe challenging situations. Char is passionate about living her life with what she calls “BEEE,” or Big Empathy & Equity Energy, both inside and outside work.
During the course of her career, she has gained a breadth of experience with various tech companies. Starting at Talent&Culture (now Ivy Group), a tech recruitment agency, she fell in love with talking to people and connecting them with the right organizations. As she has grown, she has gotten to explore People & Culture more broadly. At Talent&Culture, CanMar and Pixel Union she had the privilege of defining each organization’s values using an appreciative inquiry approach. Getting employees at all levels to buy into cultural change before taking action is something that brings her a ton of joy. At Certn, she was granted the opportunity to build the Talent department from scratch. It was an amazing opportunity to set up a system using best practices from day one; as someone who is processed-oriented, this was a dream come true! Ultimately the processes put in place and the Talent team built allowed the team to scale from 100+ to 400+ within a year. Now working at Beacon HR as their Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist she works with a variety of tech companies across Canada to build out their talent practices from scratch and define their engagement, DEI & onboarding practices.
